Is Led Zeppelin the greatest rock band ever (beatles dont count bcus they strayed too far from tru rock)?

I wouldn't say the best but they are in the upper echelon of the elite rock bands. Zep / Sabbath / Floyd /Grand Funk RR /Deep Purple / KISS /Aerosmith ---The founding fathers,so to speak,all played an important part in this genre. Best is only who YOU like more.None of these bands can be discounted ( especially by someone who thinks Zeppelin was playing in the eighties).
